Hi I'm Cheryl, a Year 4 Computer Science + USP major, and I'll try my best to answer this question for future reference, particular to the A-Level system I am familiar with. More information on other academic systems' Rank Point system i.e. Polytechnic GPAs can be found here.
Firstly, the rank points system is unique to Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level applicants, as different school systems may have different forms of measurement. Hence, the IGP produced is also only applicable within the same A-Level system, and makes the following assumptions:
3 H2 and 1 H1 subjects are taken during the A-Levels
Grade C is assumed for both the General Paper (GP) and Project Work (PW) subjects
The table merely shows the grade profiles of those at the 10th and 90th percentiles of A-Level applicants applying in AY 2021/2022, assuming only those subjects are taken into consideration, with the allocated grades assumed of PW and GP.
This varies on a year-to-year basis, and from my own experience, the Computing faculty's IGP profile has changed rather radically in the past 6-7 years. While the IGP serves as a reference point for your understanding during the admissions process, it does not necessarily capture an exact cut-off point for any particular field of study, for the year of your admissions (AY2022/2023). Additionally, applying to NUS College honours programme, should this be your choice of programme, will be a holistic process, so we don't only look at your RP results. You can find out more about the process here . You will then not need to submit any extra applications to the college, faculty, or school that hosts their selected major, with noted exceptions. Hope this helps!
