In NUS, most majors (with the exception of medicine, nursing, dentistry) offer a curriculum that have major-specific and elective components. The major-specific component consists of core foundational/advanced classes that are directly related to your major. On the other hand, electives are classes that may not be related to your major or faculty but are of interest to you. You have the option of choosing the electives you would like to take from other faculties or majors. Fulfilling both major-specific and elective classes will contribute to your graduation requirement at NUS. Different majors have different requirements for the number of electives to clear before graduation, you can check out the curriculum of specific majors to see how many electives you are required to take to graduate with the major.
