Hi, how does the core curriculum of NUSC differs from the NUS' common curriculum in other schools/faculties? Would having more of such mods take away from your major/UEs or increase our workload significantly? Thanks!
Hi QA, thanks for your question! The NUS College Curriculum is designed to fit into your NUS degree, specifically your General Education (GE) and Unrestricted Elective (UE) requirements. This means that you will not need to take any additional modules as an NUS College student. The NUS College modules will not take away from your major requirements, but because they are designed to fit into your GE and UE requirements, you will not need to take as many UEs compared to non-NUS College students.
The difference between the NUS College curriculum and the curriculum of other NUS faculties/schools is that the NUS College curriculum is designed as a broad-based interdisciplinary programme, drawing on the liberal arts tradition of Yale-NUS college and the interdisciplinary curriculum in USP. This means that two key aspects of NUS College courses are a small class size and seminar-style learning. As students, you will have more opportunities to interact meaningfully with professors and fellow classmates! In addition, unlike common curriculum classes in your home faculty, your peers will be from different majors and faculties. This aspect facilitates interdisciplinary learning and enables you to exchange perspectives and ideas with a diversity of friends in the classroom.
