Hi so I wanted to pursue a double major program in CS and Math and I just wanted to know if it's possible to do that at NUS College since the modules I can take seem to be different. Also what's the difference between the NUSC program and USP. Lastly, if I am sure about what uni course I want to pursue and I am neutral towards being on campus(not really an important thing for me) how do I determine if I should even apply for NUS college and what were other things that stood out for y'all. Thank you so much :D

Hi Atrijo! I am Tessa, Y2 from economics. With regards to whether you can do a double major programme, I think it really depends on what you want coming out of university and your passion. There are no restrictions to take a double major on top of NUS college, based on the current curriculum you still have your unrestricted elective space where you can use it to complete your double major. However, it is true that you might need to overload as compared to students who are not doing double major. But, doing double major is not uncommon so if you are truly passionate about it and have the capacity to do it you can always do so. You can read more about the expected workload through this link: https://nuscollege2021.wixsite.com/nuscollege/forum/curriculum/could-you-share-more-about-the-workload-of-the-double-major-programme
The NUS College programme marries the best of both worlds between USP and Yale-NUS College. The differences are as follows:
Curriculum: NUS College has 7 foundational modules, compared to 3 in USP. More information on the 7 modules may be found on our website: https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/critical-competencies/ and https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/global-orientation/.
Global Experiences: NUS College will host a new Global Pathways Programme. This is a tie-up between NUS College and NUS Overseas Colleges, which will allow you to learn from interesting people in your exchange city, while completing modules at the partner university. You may find more information on GPP on our website: https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/global-pathways/.
Impact Experience Project: NUS College students will also have to complete the Impact Experience Project, a team-based pass/fail module that enables you to launch a passion project aimed at benefiting the community, whether it’s a play, a community service initiative, a start-up or a research project. Wherever your imagination takes you! More information here: https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/impact-experience/.
Living on campus has given me a great balance between work and play. I get to network and know more people through living on campus, take on opportunities to learn new skills and organize events as well as participate in various activities. At the same time, I have met a lot of inspiring peers here that have motivated me to go beyond what I expected of myself in terms of academics and personal growth. In terms of academics, what I enjoy the most is the small class sizes which allows me to really discuss and go in depth about topics beyond my major module. Personally, aside from economics, I am interested in various other topics that might not seem related to my course and the modules have allowed me to pursue these other interests of mine. One thing that you might want to think of whether or not you should apply to NUS college is whether you are interested in the curriculum and opportunities available to NUS college students such as the Global Pathways Programme.
